Waseda International Dormitory(WID)

The Waseda University prepares two types of student dormitories for International students. One is Waseda International Dormitory called "WID".
A Waseda postgraduate student is staying at each WID as a resident assistant (RA), who speaks English, and helps to solve many kinds of problem that residents might have. The other one is Waseda Recommended Dormitories where students from various universities or collages stay.
Both types of the dormitories have men's dormitories and women's dormitories. The residents in WID and Waseda Recommended dormitories are mixture of students from various countries with Japanese. This cosmopolitan environment makes residents have more opportunities to interact with other cultures in their daily life. Breakfast and dinner are served and all rooms are furnished and air-conditioning so that students do not have to worry about buying or bringing any big items particularly. Dorm managers are living in each dormitory to maintain the building and assist student's daily life. WID and Waseda Recommended Dormitories could assure healthy, peaceful and safe living for all the residents.

*All rooms are equipped with Internet access. (The basic monthly charge is required.)

*WID Hanakoganei has shower booth in the public bath. No door installed in each booth, and the changing room is shared place.

		B type room has a bathroom vanity. Please use the public bath and the bathroom
C type(Single room)
		C type room has a prefabricated bath and mini kitchen in the room. The fee is the same as Japanese students.
D type(Single room)
		D type room has a prefabricated bath and a vanity in the room. The fee is the same as Japanese students.

2) Holidays

Meal service and the public bath are not available on the following days: Sundays, national holidays, summer holiday (6days around 8/15), winter holiday (6 days, 12/30-1/4), spring holiday (3/21-3/25), the anniversary of the school establishment, school festival days, and training day for dorm staff

3) The items that are not permitted to bring in.

Vehicle, heater, electric blanket, rice cooker, toaster and any other items that may cause a fire.

4) Smoking

Smoking is prohibited at any place in WID.

* Security deposit is refundable only if the resident leaves upon contract expiration.
* On the expiration of the contract, the room cleaning charge will be subtracted from security deposit and refunded the rest of it. If leaving the dormitory before the contract ends, no money is refundable.
* 70% of Entrance fee will be requested for type C and D dormitories for Renewal charge when renewing the contract.
* Meals are included in Rent fee; no-meal rent fee is not available for A or B type dormitories.
* Rent fee is not refundable even if meals are undesirable.
* Room cleaning charge will be subtracted from the security deposit, and the difference will be returned.
Room cleaning charge
A-type 34,650 yen, B-type 37,800yen, C-type 45,150yen
* Extra charge will be added to the room cleaning charge depending on the room condition.
* Building maintenance charge is fee to maintain the dormitory building including fire insurance.
** From April 1st 2009, monthly rent for dormitories will be going up 1,000yen for type A and B dormitories.
For type C or D dormitories, Yearly Management Fee will be going up 12,000yen from April 1st 2009.
